Total for one week: $700-$900/person/week (including travel and NYSUM stay).

Plane

Flights are around $200/person. LaGuardia is the closest airport to the New York School of Urban Ministry (NYSUM) campus. LaGuardia and JFK would be closest to the Brooklyn CompassCare office.

An Uber or Lyft trip to/from LaGuardia to NYSUM would be about 13 minutes.

Train

Amtrak tickets range from around $120-150.

There are many options for travel via Amtrak train to the New York City Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station in Manhattan. For example, from Rochester to NYC takes about 7 hours, and a round trip ticket is about $139. A café car sells light snacks, there is no fee for luggage, Wifi is free and every car has a restroom. The ride is quiet and pleasant with beautiful views along the Hudson.

Drive

Hotels seldom offer free parking in NYC. Parking costs in NYC can be $50+/day.

NYSUM does not offer parking during the summer months. During non-peak seasons guests may park in their parking lot, based upon availability. Please check directly with NYSUM regarding your parking plans before arriving in Queens. Street parking is also available.

Accommodations are $48/person/bed/night. One week would total $288.

Hotel or Airbnb

NYC hotels and Airbnbs run $160-220/night. One week would total ~$1200.

Breakfast: $8.50 | Lunch $9 (bag lunch $6.25) | Dinner $12.50 (must reserve ahead).

Grocery

Local grocery stores may cost more, but are an affordable option for breakfast and/or packing lunches.

Dining Out

Metro

A subway pass for 5 round trips would cost $29; or $34 for an unlimited 7-day pass.
